Sabine Kuehlich, winner of the 2008 Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition
Sabine Kuehlich, winner of the 2008 Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition, loves to be on stage performing songs from the Great American Songbook and also with her own compositions alongside her Bossa Nova Saxophone.
Patti Austin, who was head of the jury in 2008, described her as „dedicated and absolutely outstanding in jazz-feel, swing and scat-singing“. The Jazz Virus caught her in Eastern Germany before the wall came down, later she studied jazz in Amsterdam and New York, performed and recorded with Sheila Jordan, toured with own music through Europe, Brazil and Asia.
Today, Sabine lives in Germany together with her two sons – 2 and 5 years old – and husband. She’s absolutely dedicated to jazz, being a jazz singing teacher at the Conservatory in Maastricht (Netherlands). She performs at festivals and little clubs throughout Europe on a regular basis, in 2016 again on tour with two American Jazzlegends: Sheila Jordan 87 years old and the bassist/singer Kristin Korb.
